About Darwen

Visit Darwen and browse the selection of shops, cafes, restaurants, and much more, in a friendly market town bordering the West Pennine Moors. The town is known for its history in textile manufacturing during the Industrial Revolution, as well as for Darwen Tower, which was built at the end of the 1800s for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee.

The town centre has no shortage of great shops and restaurants, with a good mix of the branded stores and independent retailers, selling unique products in a beautiful surrounding. Darwen Town Centre is the main shopping area in the town, meaning there's a great community feel, with all the businesses together in one place.

The local football club is AFC Darwen, who play their home matches at Anchor Ground, which is only a short distance from the town centre. For those who like to watch sport on TV, there are also a number of pubs in the area, which show all the latest sporting events all year round.

Darwen Market is a covered market, open six days a week in the town centre, and offers a wide range of traders and products, including fruit and vegetables, meat, gifts, fabrics and much more.

The local train station offers easy access to nearby Clitheroe and Rochdale, and the town itself is situated near Blackburn, Oswaldtwistle and Accrington.
