Blackpool Zoo

Blackpool Zoo is often described as a “hidden gem”. The zoo provides a haven of peace, tranquillity and over 1000 animals in 32 acres of traditional, spacious parkland and lakes. Additionally, it offers an educational yet fun day out for all the family, whether you’re 9 months or 99 years!

From aardvarks to zebras, marmosets to giraffes, our residents come in all shapes and sizes. You can walk amongst them in Amazonia, Lemur Wood and Wallaby Walkabout or look them in the eye with nothing but a pane of glass between you and one of nature’s most efficient predators at the Big Cat House. Learn all there is to know at the daily talks, feeds and displays. Or even take part in one of our close encounters with giraffes, sea lions or a barn owl.

Project Elephant Base Camp is the largest indoor elephant house in the UK. Furthermore, it offers the latest handling facilities to ensure the highest standards of care and welfare for its residents. These include five female Asian elephants ranging from 4 years old to almost 50. The huge outdoor space provides grass paddocks, a sand area and a large, deep pool, all of which you can enjoy from raised and ground level walkways.

The Active Oceans arena is the biggest and best in the UK and is home to our Californian sea lions. Daily displays demonstrate natural behaviours and you and your children can learn about Gina, Anya and the rest whilst marvelling at their intelligence and agility. Amazonia replicates the South American rainforests and is full of free-roaming monkeys and many species of exotic waterfowl and parrots. The Birds of the World displays include birds of prey, parrots of all colours and sizes.
