Ask anybody in Blackburn where the Exchange Coffee shop is and they will say "follow your nose to Fleming Square". Fleming Square is one of the oldest parts remaining in Blackburn, and is situated close to the Cathedral in the heart of the town.
Exchange Coffee is in the middle of the Exchange Arcade, a wonderful arcade built in 1848, full of independent quality retailers. The facade of the shop is very impressive with its stone arch and carved head. Enter the open door and again step into another time zone.
By the door we have the coffee roaster which supplies the shop with its roasted coffee so it's always fresh. Enter the downstairs oak panelled room and you feel that you have walked into a large house. Admire the old arched fireplace and the magnificent english oak paneling. Should you wish you could always climb the stairs from street level to the long window room with the large natural light skylight and enjoy the intimate surroundings. Alternatively on a nice day why not enjoy the award winning square and dine alfresco.
Food and snacks are made available throughout the day. We have a wide selection of sandwiches, toasties and jacket potatoes that can all be found in our menu as well as a large specials board which changes on a weekly basis. All meals are homemade on site.
